ThermoClear is a gentle yet effective radio frequency treatment designed to target minor skin imperfections. Following these pre- and post-care guidelines will help you achieve the best results while ensuring a smooth recovery.
Pre-Treatment Instructions
To prepare your skin for treatment, please follow these guidelines:
Avoid Sun Exposure: Stay out of direct sunlight and avoid tanning beds for at least 1 week prior to your appointment to reduce skin sensitivity.
Discontinue Exfoliants: Avoid exfoliating products such as scrubs, acids (AHAs/BHAs), or retinoids for 3–5 days before your session.
Arrive with Clean Skin: Your face should be free from makeup, creams, or any other products to ensure optimal treatment.
Hydrate: Drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated and help the treatment process.
Consult Your Provider: Inform your provider of any recent treatments, active skincare products, or medical conditions. This includes medications and conditions that may affect your ability to safely undergo treatment.
Post-Treatment Instructions
Immediate Aftercare
Soothe the Skin: Apply ice packs, Polysporin, Bacitracin, or Caladryl lotion to reduce any mild redness or swelling. The treated area may feel like a mild sunburn for a few hours.
Avoid Trauma: Keep the area dry and avoid hot baths, swimming pools, hot tubs, or strenuous exercise for at least 24 hours following your treatment.
Do Not Pick or Scratch: If scabbing appears, apply antibiotic cream (such as Bacitracin or Caladryl) or soothing after-sunburn gel. Do not pick at or scratch the treated area to avoid scarring and prolonged healing.
Healing Tips
Makeup Use: You may apply makeup 24 hours after treatment, provided there is no active bleeding. Use fresh makeup or mineral-based makeup to prevent irritation and reduce infection risk.
Showering: When showering, use lukewarm water and avoid rubbing the treated area. If extensive work was done, apply Aquaphor or Vaseline to the treated area before showering, and gently pat dry—do not rub.
Redness and Scabbing: Mild redness, scabbing, or slight bruising is expected and typically subsides within 5–7 days. These are normal reactions and will resolve naturally.
Ongoing Care
Sun Protection: Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning beds for 2–3 weeks after your treatment. Use a broad-spectrum SPF 25 or higher daily to protect your skin from UV damage and prevent pigmentation changes.
Gentle Care: Use a mild, non-irritating cleanser and avoid products like Retin-A, glycolic acid, or physical exfoliants (such as loofahs or scrubs) until the area is fully healed.
Avoid Additional Treatments: Do not tweeze, wax, bleach, or undergo chemical peels or laser treatments on the treated area until your skin has completely healed.
