Spicule Peel Aftercare Guide

Writer: Mathilda GoldingMathilda Golding

Spicule peels offer an effective alternative to Chemical Peels and Microneedling providing several skin rejuvenation benefits, such as boosting collagen production, improving skin texture, reducing fine lines and wrinkles, enhancing hydration, and giving the skin a more youthful look. To maximize these benefits and achieve the best results, it's crucial to follow proper aftercare. Consistent aftercare supports the skin's healing process, reduces the risk of infection or irritation, and promotes lasting improvements in both skin health and appearance.

What To Expect

While spicule peels offer numerous benefits, they can also cause some downtime as your skin undergoes the regeneration process.

  • During treatment and immediately after:

    • A prickling sensation is to be expected. Redness of skin is very normal. In fact, expect skin to get progressively more red within the first 24 hours. Skin may feel warm to the touch.

  • Immediately After: You might feel a slight stinging or tingling sensation. Redness can appear for up to 36 hours, but it should gradually fade.

  • 2–3 Days: Your skin might feel dry, and it may also appear darker as dead skin cells surface. Some may feel a slight tingling sensation

  • 4–5 Days: Your skin might become even drier, and dead skin cells may appear all over your skin and fall off. Acne or pimples may also be visible.

  • After One Week: All dead skin cells should have fallen off, leaving your skin smoother, cleaner, and regenerated.

Immediate Aftercare

  •  Upon returning home

    • Apply the provided aftercare sheet mask for 15-20minutes

  • To Avoid for at least 24-48 Hours:

    • Exercise

    • Prolonged sun exposure

    • Saunas

    • Makeup

    • Exfoliation

    • Waxing

    • Facials

    • Other peels

Optional: For itchiness or dryness, a hydrocortisone cream or a rich, gentle moisturizer may be applied.

General Aftercare

  • Day 1:

    • Expect your skin to exhibit symptoms similar to sunburn—redness and a prickly sensation. It is crucial to wash only with cool water and apply the aftercare cream provided. Please refrain from using any cleansers or other products.

    • First 24 hours post-treatment, no cleanser, moisturizer or SPF. Just the homecare mask provided. You may use and re-apply just the mask serum for extra hydration and comfort.

    Days 2 & 3:

    • Skincare Routine

      • DO NOT USE ACTIVE INGREDIENTS

      • In both the morning and evening, cleanse gently, followed by application of the aftercare cream, moisturizer, and SPF during the day. Other products should be avoided. You will notice a reduction in redness and prickliness by approximately 40%. Skin may darken and begin to flake.

    • Nothing that increases skin or body temperature. No exercising, swimming, sauna, or hot showers.

    • DO NOT EXFOLIATE and fluffing of the skin

    Days 4 to 7:

    • Continue with a gentle cleanser, moisturizer, and SPF in the morning and evening. Avoid any additional products. By this time, the prickling sensation should have ceased, and peeling will be more noticeable.

    • DO NOT EXFOLIATE and fluffing of the skin

    • Only use gentle cleanser, cream, and spf until peeling subsides. You can then return to your normal routine.

    Expected Reactions:

    • Darkening of the skin before peeling, outbreaks (such as pimples), dryness, tightness, and possible scabbing are all normal parts of the healing process, typically resolving within a week.
